Fuzzy Wuzzy
Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear er I mean a boy.
Fuzzy Wuzzy lost his hair.
Then Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy was he?
Ok so this is the biggest "different" thing I have come across about having a boy, so far. All of the my other kids' first haircuts consisted of a quick snip of the bangs.
It was extremely difficult. He wouldn't be still. I let him chew on an apple to keep him entertained. That didn't help much. And there was just so much to cut. It wasn't even by any means. Today, I had to fix it. and I learned how to make it easier and more enjoyable for the both of us. I set him in the kitchen sink with the warm water turned on a little while he played with it. That way he was being still and I wasn't afraid of dropping the hair on him becuase I could just rinse it off. It was much easier to get it even.

I'm just here to tell you....
....that contrary to what my husband says, it is against the law to have someone under the age of 18 in the bed of a truck even if you are going under 30 miles per hour. A nice uniformed gentlemen was kind enough to inform me of this fact. Fortunately, since it is our only means of transportation, he let me off with a warning.

More Liam news
First, another new word. "book"
Second, I forgot to post that Liam is pacifier-free and has been for about a month. It was not my choosing but his own. He just won't have it anymore. Which would be fine and dandy if he were pacified by something else. He is not pacified by anything.
Third, Liam has Roseola. How is it that even after seven kids, I still have to look these things up? I have seen it at least seven times and yet when my baby gets sick, I still start to question and wonder if something serious is wrong.
It's not serious. The fever is gone, which I kind of thought was related to teething but now he has a rash across his forehead. He is so cute, even in his crankiness and he keeps rubbing his forehead all over the couch or the chair or anything he can reach. It apparently itches.
And the picture is just for kicks because he is so cute.

LOL a verbal Canary!
So I was reading this blog post which I was directed to by Ashlie like I need yet another thing to read online. Thank you Ashlie. But this is worth the read. Pay special attention to #4.
It is so funny. It reminds me of something Tammy told me once. When someone asks "have you seen (fill in the blank)?" The "holy" thing to say is "No, but I have witnessed to someone that watched that".
Verbal canary has just been entered into my vocabulary. If you ever talk to me in real life, I can pretty much guarantee that you will hear those words come out of my mouth.

mid-june update
We took a trip to El Paso last Friday in an effort to buy a van. The trip was long and boring, El Paso is UGLY! We did not find a van that would work. They all either had too few seats, too many miles, were too much of a piece of junk, too expensive, or belonged ot people that did not want to finance us because either the van was discounted so much they couldn't finance, or we lived too far away, or our credit wasn't good enough, blah, blah, blah.
Sum it up by saying we really wasted the entire day. I never want to go to el paso again. ever. I didn't see one pretty scenic thing. It was hot, dry, and dusty.
We got to keep the truck twice this week so we could go to the pool. We went on Tuesday for about 2 hours. We went today for about 4 hours.
I have found a renewed joy in cooking in a crockpot, partly fueled by the fact that we can only use one burner on the stove here and it is hard to feed a family of nine on one burner. I even did the unthinkable and bought *gasp* a microwave.
Liam has added a few words to his vocabulary. He has stopped saying "da da" and started saying "daddy" but His latest addition was "more" used when we was not adequatly satisfied with the amount of juice Sharla had provided. Actually it was a juice box. I bought juice boxes to teach Liam how to suck out of a straw. I learned this trick many kids ago. They learn to suck out of a straw easier when you "prime the pump" so to speak by sqeezing the box. Liam is a quick learner. It took him one juice box to master the concept.
Liam's favorite new word is "meeeee". Anytime anyone askes a question, liam raises his hand and says "meeeee" just like all of the other kids. It started with "Who wants a popsicle?" Liam's answer "meeeee" and has moved to "how old are you?", "meeeeee" "Where's is your nose?" "meeeee" or anyother question or anything that might sound like a question and liam raises his hands and says "meeeeeee".
He occasionaly says "yep" while copying someone else and he has gotten into saying "hi" to every new person he sees. He is like his daddy, never met a stranger.
Sonja went off the high dive today but not voluntarily. She jumped off the highdive five times on this day and hasn't jumped off since.
The girls are working like crazy on learning information on Africa for their geography bee coming up the end of July.

Another photoshop pic
You might need to click on this one to see the detail. I love this because as babies grow, you tend to forget thier little facial expressions but this way, I have them all in one compact little place and I can see them anytime I want.
Stuck at the house
My van finally died. For good. period. The end. We were blessed with this van for free. We have been using it to get by until we could get something else....... for two years now. So I guess it's time.
Unfortunately, that means we can't go anywhere during the day like swimming even when the thermometer on the porch looks like this.
The official temp is supposed to be 106 but as we all know, official air temp really has nothing to do with the real world.
So between times of studying for our upcoming geography bee, and trying to stay cool by spraying each other with water bottles, the kids have been jumping on the couch cushions piled in the floor and making "houses" out of them, and I have been playing with photoshop. Here are some results.
Side note on the van, We will be heading to El Paso this week end to try to get another one.
